Wallowitch & Ross: THIS MOMENT
Shortlisted for the 1999 Academy Award, this non-fiction musical follows composer John Wallowitch, a star of New York cabaret and partner Bertram Ross, Martha Graham's lead dancer for 20 years and co-director of the Graham Company. Together they formed the unforgettable cabaret duo "Wallowitch and Ross."
Reminiscent of the best moments of Cole Porter, Noel Coward, The Gershwins, and Irving Berlin, their music scores this tale of an incredible partnership, both on stage and off. A hidden gem of queer cinema, recently preserved in the Academy (AMPAS) Archives "Wallowitch & Ross: This Moment" belongs in the collection of any lover of musical theatre, modern dance, documentary, or a bygone New York City.
This special edition features 90 minutes of additional content including all new interviews with the filmmakers, additional performances by Wallowitch and company, as well as previously unreleased footage of the two edited for Wallowitch's memorial service in 2007.
